Haydn Rutledge had the perfect cookie in his childhood, and fuhgeddaboudit…he couldn’t find anything like it anywhere. So he went rogue, perfected his own recipes, and now runs Dough Joe Bakery, a small-batch operation serving strong coffee and killer cookies that don’t stick around long.
Haydn Rutledge has always been a little rebellious. When nothing on the shelves lived up to his childhood cookie memories, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
After attending culinary school at Fanshawe College and spending years working in restaurant kitchens, Haydn started experimenting off the clock. Nights, weekends, days off…batch after batch after batch until he built a cookie recipe that finally hit the mark: soft, thick, flavour-packed, and worth every bite.
It didn’t stay a secret for long. Friends told friends. Orders increased. People kept coming back for “just one more.” Before Hadyn knew it, his side project turned into an underground favourite, and Dough Joe Bakery became the unofficial front for the best cookies and coffee in Southwestern Ontario.
Now, Haydn runs the operation full-time. Let’s just say it’s a perfectly innocent cookie shop. The batches are still small. The quality is still unmatched. And once you’re in? You’re family, and family always gets the good stuff.
